Børsen (The Stock Exchange) built in the 1620-24 on the initiative of Christian IV is one of the oldest buildings in Copenhagen. Børsen was built by Lorenz and Hans Steenwinckel in accordance with the King’s taste for Dutch renaissance style. Their father Belgian Hans van Steenwinckel had assisted Christian IV with new spires for both Helligåndskirken and Nikolaj Kirke.
